Nigerian afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti has been arrested and taken to Lagos State Police command Headquarters, Ikeja following a video of his assault on an officer which went viral on social media.
In the video, Seun, was seen assaulting a policeman standing by a police van, while at it, he repeatedly asked his victim: “you dey mad’’? (are you insane?).
Although, Seun on his Instastory had said that, the policeman apologized and he has forgiven him. “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout.
“He has apologized and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job.”
The young Kuti also said that he would give the police his full co-operation to uncover who is wrong.
“I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted,” he said in a second Instastory.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, thereafter, ordered the arrest of the Seun Kuti for his action.
This was seen in a tweet made by Nigerian Police force on the 13th of May, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.
“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
In another video that surfaced on social media on Monday, Seun Kuti was seen arrested and cuffed by the police.
