The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, wanted.
This was disclosed in a statement shared on its official Facebook handle on Thursday, April 18, EFCC declared Bello wanted for offences relating to economic and financial crimes.
The statement read, “Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is wanted by the EFCC for offences relating to economic and financial crimes to the tune of N80.2 billion.
“Anybody with information as to his whereabout should report immediately to the commission or the nearest police station,” the statement added.
Bello’s arrest warrant follows his failure to appear in court on Thursday for his arraignment on charges of an alleged financial crime totaling N80.2 billion.
According to VANGUARD report, on Wednesday, officials from the anti-graft agency surrounded the former governor’s residence in Abuja. However, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo arrived with his security operatives and escorted him away from the EFCC’s grasp.
