The abductors of the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Andaha and his friend, Adamu Tanko, has demanded N50 million ransom for their freedom.
A family source who pleaded anonymity during an interview with Punch Reporter in Lafia, the state capital on Tuesday, revealed that the kidnappers has requested for N50 million as ransom and negotiations are currently ongoing.
According to reports, the LGA chairman and Friend were kidnapped at Ningo village on the Akwanga-Andaha Road around 8.30 pm on Monday, January 1.
The kidnap was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, affirming that the police in collaboration with other security agencies were pursuing the kidnappers to secure the victim’s release.
The Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Kassimu also confirmed their kidnap.
