A former house of representatives aspirant in Nasarawa State, Keffas Tigga has been dragged before a Magistrate court for alleged cheating and breach of trust to the tune N700,000 (seven hundred thousand naira).
Tigga who had sought to represent Akwanga/Wamba federal constituency, was dragged to court by Lafia based socio-cultural group, the Affor Cultural Association.
The defendant, Hon Keffas Tigga, through his lawyer, however pleaded for an out of court settlement of the case.
The Chief Magistrate of magistrate court three, Shendam road Lafia, Emmanuel Jatau, granted the defendant bail in the sum of 100, 000 thousand Naira. The judge also directed that the defendant must produced a trusted surety.
Speaking shortly after the adjournment of the matter, counsel to the complainant, Yahaya Muazu Maifata, said Mr. Keffas had cheated on his clients to the tune of 700,000 naira with the pretence of producing an association’s magazine. All efforts to retrieve the fund proved abortive.
According to multiple sources, the defendant Keffas Tigga is alleged to be mischief as it is on record that he had conspired and cheated both private and state government parastatals on the pretence of producing magazines and other printed publications in the state.
He further adjourned the case to the 20th of January for further hearing should the defendant fail to settle out of court as stated during the hearing of the case.
