The Delta State Police Force has stated that the ban on motorcycles popularly called Okada is real.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, stated this via X formerly called Twitter on Sunday, June 9.
Edafe warned Okada riders to put their bikes under lock and keys adding that the Delta State Government has ordered that any bike impounded would be crushed.
He tweeted, “The enforcement of the ban on motorcycles popularly called Okada is serious and that’s exactly how we take it. The ban is real, so it’s better you carry your bike and lock it somewhere because Edafe Bright cannot help when it’s impounded. The directive from the State Government is to crush them all.”
The Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, in Asaba, had made the announcement while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Council Meeting presided over by the governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on May 24.
According to Emu, the ban on Okada was necessary due to the increase in crime committed with Okada.
The enforcement of the ban began on Saturday, June 1.
