Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of three men suspected to have been behind the kidnap of a family of four in the Okpe council area of the state.
According to the Spokesman of the Command, Bright Edafe, the suspects were paraded at the Command’s Headquarters in Asaba on Monday, October 16.
Edafe noted that the suspects were responsible for the kidnappings around the council and have been at large since the abduction of the family of four, adding that fire arms were recovered from them.
“Following the kidnap of a man and his wife (name withheld) on 2nd August 2023, in Orerokpe the wife was murdered by the kidnappers, while the man was also shot after they collected a ransom. They abandoned the victim thinking he was dead. The Command has been working tirelessly to ensure that the culprits are arrested and brought to book,” he said in a statement on his X (Twitter handle).
“Acting on technically generated information, on 13th October 2023, the DPO Orerokpe acting on the directive of CP Wale Abass embarked on a covert operation at Ofuoma in Ughelli North LGA and arrested three suspects who masterminded the kidnap and recovered Four AK-47 rifles, one, pump-action gun, one locally made single barrel cut-to-size pistol, 58 rounds of 7.62 live ammunitions, thirteen live cartridges, five packs of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), six detonators, eight empty magazines. Their names are James Aboyo, Solomon Gbolode, and Blessing Deco. An investigation is ongoing.”
He reaffirmed that the command are out to fight all forms of criminalities.
