Ikhide Iyamah, who was kidnapped Monday, 10 May along Ekenwan road in Benin City has been released.
According to Police sources, Ikhide and two other kidnap victims were rescued on Sunday by the Police after a gun duel inside an undisclosed forest in Edo State.
The Police source who craved anonymity said they won’t mention the location of the forest for security reasons noted the victim who was looking frail was rescued after twenty days in the kidnappers den and that there were some decaying corpses in their make shift tent.
However, anonymous family sources said ransom was paid and that the Police saw Ikhide roaming around the a thick forest unable to find his way and picked him up after rescuing some kidnapped victims from the same forest.
But the family source told our reporter that the most important thing is that their son has been rescued and is alive.
Ikhide Iyamah, a car dealer and son of Mr. Patrick Iyamah, the former chairman of the Edo State chapter of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party , ANPP was kidnapped on Monday, 10 may on his way to his office at Ekewan road where he has his car shade.
It will be recalled that Mr. Patrick Iyamah, Ikhide’s father was himself kidnapped in 2003 while he was in office as ANPP chairman in the state.
Sources at Ekenwan road where Ikhide sells cars said Ikhide’s kidnap must have been arranged by some evil forces, possibly a certain dreaded cult group who were also responsible for the father’s kidnap in 2003.
