The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a welder, Aliu Tijani, who reportedly helped a suspected cultist, to cut off handcuffs after escaping from police custody.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, via a tweet on Sunday, confirmed that the suspected cultist, Wasiu Opeyemi, was arrested in August 2021, but escaped from police custody.
Hundeyin wrote, “Suspected cultist, Wasiu Opeyemi, escaped from police custody in August, 2021 in handcuffs.
“Last week, he was rearrested alongside Aliu Tijani, the welder who cut off the handcuffs when he escaped the first time.
He added that, “They have both been arraigned and are currently in remand.”
