The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) has shut down all activities in the University of Lagos (UNILAG) over non-payment of four months of withheld salaries.
Recall that, SSANU President, Mohammed Ibrahim, had on Monday, March 18, declared on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme that “Definitely, it (the strike) has already started”.
Early Wednesday, UNILAG activities were paralysed as members of non-academic staff unions finally complied with the directive to embark on the seven-day warning strike.
The institution locked one of the main gates which affected the entry and exit of vehicles on the campuses.
According to the NATIONS report, vehicular movements into the school was affected and also caused congestion along the UNILAG route.
