Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has commended the management of Edo University Iyamho for the standard of education, academic programmes and state of the Art facilities available at the University.
The commendation was made when the COREN Management led by its president Engr. Kashim Adbul Ali, FNSE, mni paid a visit to University. Speaking on the state of the Engineering Programmes of the University, the COREN President stated that the body has accredited all the Engineering Programmes currently offered by the University, that the University is well suited to train undergraduate who will in turn become qualified Engineers in no distance time.
The Body whose responsibility is to accredit Engineering Programmes in Nigeria Universities were taking on a tour round the facilities of the University starting from the Faculties of Engineering, Science, Arts, Management and Social Sciences, Law, respectively as well as College of Medical Sciences and Entrepreneurship Development Centre by the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor. The COREN boss, after the tour of the university, said they were really impressed with the state of the Art facilities available at the University and that they can compare with any facilities you can find anywhere in the world. In his words “I have gone round universities campuses both locally and internationally, the facilities here are first class, they can compare with any facilities you can see anywhere in the world. The Engineering Programmes have met the basic requirements “he noted.
The COREN president also eulogized the Edo State Government for its vision in establishing a World Class University that can compete with any university in the world. He observed that the structures are solid, the environment is serene and that some of the equipment available at the university, like the smart board used in teaching in the Lecture Theatres and others are only found in universities outside of the Country. He added that he was proud that a state university could be this well equipped and managed and that he can confidently bring any of his foreign counterparts to Edo University Iyamho, as its meet International Standard in all it ramification.
Edo University, Iyamho, currently employs modern technology and highly qualified Academic Staff in different disciplines in training undergraduates who when graduated would initiate programmes, plans and implement public and private sector policies in the nearest future.To achieve this, the Vice Chancellor of the Institution Professor Emmanuel Aluyor in his visionary leadership has instituted a policy that equips the trainers with know how in modern educational, technological materials and equipment.
As a result, Edo University, Iyamho that is yet to graduate its first set of Students is rated the best State University in Nigeria among 42 State Universities in the Country, which is only older than Ogun State University of Science and Technology.
The University is also rated third-best among 39 Federal and 77 Private Universities in Nigeria base on the results of the open educational resources assessment of Universities in Nigeria, recently conducted by the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC).
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor promised that the university would put more efforts to ensure they become the number one University in Nigeria and maintain their academic standard.
