Demeaning and troubling photographs showing pupils of Otoro Primary School sitting and studying on bare floor during teaching and learning in Orhoakpor Community have emerged despite boasting of Six Oil Wells but yet impoverished in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The infrastructures in the schools are nothing but poor because the roofs are almost blown off. There are no benches in the classrooms as hoodlums have allegedly carted away the few ones available in the school. There are also no Doors, Staff Room, Offices and burglary proofs in windows of the classrooms.
There is also no security in the school which is currently begging for the State Government attention currently led by Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
These photographs have exposed the lapses and nonchalance of the Delta State Government to Education.
In a chat, a source who craved anonymity appealed to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to come to the rescue of the school with the provision of basic infrastructures and adequate security; Day and Night for the school.
Apart from the poor presence of the Delta State Government, the presence of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) operating the Six Oil wells in the Community is not felt by the people.
There are no access roads, portable water supply while the only health centre lacks the necessary medical facilities.
This report is also calling on the Management of NPDC to meet up with its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to the Community before it’s too late.
