Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has says his administration would continue to give priority attention to the Education sector in the state.
The Governor stated this when he inspected the ongoing construction of the new Government Secondary School in Ughelli, and the renovation works being carried out in Uhrobo College, Effurun and also Chude Girls Model School, Sapele and the ongoing construction of modern classroom blocks at Ijorugu Primary School Oku-Ijorugu in Okpe Local Government Area.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Governor Okowa reiterated the commitment of his administration in the development of the Basic and Secondary Education subsector.
While noting that emphasis in the year 2018 would be placed on construction of Infrastructure and Equipping of the new schools established by his administration, the Governor stressed that his administration would continue to take steps aimed at making academic activities in these schools conducive
Speaking further the education commissioner, Mr. Ebie emphasised that Governor Okowa is determined to make renovation/upgrade of schools in Delta State a Continuous process.
He urged the Contractors handling the Ministry Projects to keep to the contract specification in their bills of quantities in other to deliver quality Jobs, that would stand the test of time as the state Government would not tolerate shoddy Jobs done by the Contractors and that anyone found wanting would be sanctioned.
At the Government Secondary School Ughelii, the Commissioner expressed his satisfaction at the level of work done so far, while commending the contractor for doing a good Job, At Urhobo College and Chude Girls Model Schools where renovation works was being carried out.
Mr. Ebie urged the contractors to expedite action,so that the renovation work can be completed within the shortest possible time.
