The Lagos state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, has criticized the lyrics of rising singer Ayo Maff’s new song, “Last Week”.
Hundeyin on his social media page highlighted the negative impact of drug use on young people.
The song’s lyrics celebrate drug use, with the artist openly bragging about consuming cannabis and running low on supplies by Saturday.
Hundeyin urged artists to consider the impact of their lyrics on the audience.
Hundeyin wrote: “He does what on Mondays and Saturdays? Help me listen.
“Like Asa said, there is fire on the mountain and nobody seems to be on the run…
“Fact: Half of the young ones in prison today wouldn’t be there if they didn’t do drugs. Drugs is a precursor to everything bad. Eni a wi fun”
