Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly called Jnr Pope, has been confirmed dead in Asaba hospital after multiple trials to resuscitate him.
This is coming after the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, confirmed that the actor was revived and receiving treatment in a hospital.
Junior Pope was confirmed dead by a filmmaker, Sam Olatunji, on Wednesday, April 10.
Olatunji wrote, on Instagram, “Junior Pope Passes on. Sad day for Nollywood.
“Four actors including Jnr Pope fell into Anam River on their way to location and their bodies have been recovered. What a sad day for Nollywood. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
“Multiple sources confirm this sad development to us.”
Following this, the Delta State Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emma Onyemeziem, has confirmed to VANGUARD that Junior Pope is dead and his corpse had been deposited in the morgue.
Also, some videos making the rounds on social media shows the actor in a morgue with cotton wool slotted into his nostrils.
Deaths in Nollywood
The death of Junior Pope is the latest in a string of tragedies that has hit Nollywood this year.
Last month, ace thespians, such as Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor and Sisi Quadri passed on.
