Nigerian skit maker, Amarachi Amusi, best known as Ashmusy, has condemned the trend of linking the success of female creatives to men.
Ashmusy expressed her dismay during an interview with Punch, noting that attributing her success to Men is “hurtful and frustrating”.
She said to reshape this narrative, she has opted to wear more modest cloths to cover herself up as part of the rebranding process.
“Linking a woman’s success to men can be annoying and hurtful. That is the reason I want to rebrand myself,” she said.
“It can be hurtful when a young girl works so hard, and all her efforts are linked to a man.
“Covering up myself is a part of my rebranding. I hated the fact that a man was said to be the source of my success.
“That narrative was hurtful because I know how hard I work to make every single dime. I will ascribe my success to God, consistency and hard work.”
The 28-year-old comedic artist which rose to internet stardom following the dissemination of a viral video on various social media platforms, acquired a luxury residence in 2022
Aside making skits, she is an actress, brand influencer, and social media content creator.
