The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the arrest warrant against Ezekiel Thankgod, manager of popular gospel musician Mercy Chinwo.
According to VANGUARD report, EFCC withdrew the arrest Warrant on Friday, January 24.
This development comes just a week after Justice Alexander Owoeye issued a bench warrant against Thankgod following an ex parte order filed by the EFCC.
The EFCC’s lawyer, Bilikisu Buhari, requested the withdrawal of the warrant and the case was adjourned.
and it is unclear what prompted the EFCC’s decision to withdraw the arrest warrant.
ThankGod was accused of diverting $345,000 in royalties meant for Mercy Chinwo.
Following these claims, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission obtained a bench warrant for ThankGod’s arrest.
However, in a surprising move, the EFCC withdrew the arrest warrant. The reasons behind this decision are not clear.
