Afrobeat artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared some details of the early days of his career in an interview with Real 92.3 – LA’s New Home for Hip Hop.
In the interview as posted by BigboyTV on YouTube, Davido said, at some point of his career, he left his parents’ $60 million dollar house to sleep in his friend’s studio for days despite the discomfort.
“We had a $60 million dollar house in Nigeria that I ran away from, I was sleeping in my friend’s studio, hot”.
He added that his dad never bought the idea of him going fully into music, at some point he even got him arrested.
“I was performing one night and he sent the cops on me” Davido said, referring to his dad.
Davido said he went through a lot to prove a point, though, his parents are wealthy, he has created his own path and now he is touching life. He noted now, that, his family and friends now enjoy privileges because of his music.
“Now it is beautiful to see that from my music, my dad is enjoying it, friends enjoy it, cousins enjoy it, and my family enjoys it”.
