Nigerian Afrobeat star, Divine Ikubor, best known as Rema has been hailed by the federal government for winning the Best Afrobeats Award, for his remixed single “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez in Tuesday’s 2023 MTV VMA in New Jersey, USA.
Recall that Rema and Selena Gomez Calm down beats Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid to emerge first winner of best afrobeats award in Newark, New Jersey, United States of America on Tuesday, September 12.
The presidency celebrated Rema on it official X page, saying that the award is a reflection of the “true Nigerian spirit”.
“Congratulations to Nigeria’s very own – Rema. Such an amazing acceptance speech!” the Thursday statement read.
“Rema, his talent knows no bounds, and his music resonates with audiences worldwide. From Benin City to the VMA stage, Rema’s journey continues to be a testament to dedication, passion, and the true Nigerian spirit.”
