Popular Nigerian artist, Divine Ikubor, best known as Rema, has condemned critics who alleged he is not on the same level as Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
In response to the backlash, Rema noted in his new song released on Monday, he said, “No more Big 3, there’s now a Big 4”.
Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido are largely recognized as the world’s most successful Nigerian/Afrobeats performers, collectively known as the “Big 3.”
However, in a controversial tweet, Rema insisted that he is now among the Afrobeats megastars, forming a “Big 4.”
He sings: “No more big 3, there’s now a big 4. People go para but what for? Dem go say I don’t deserve it but that is an insult.”
In other news, in Nigeria, Burna Boy has smashed yet another record for music. In its first week of release, his new song “Higher” received 2.3 million plays on Spotify Nigeria. This surpasses the previous record of 2.1 million streams held by “Benin Boys” by Rema and Shallipopi.
