The Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye has said that efforts have been made by the Ministry of Health to rehabilitate its rapid response system in the State to ensure swift and proper health care delivery.
Dr. Onoye disclosed this during his appearance at the 2018 Ministerial Press Briefing on the activities of the Ministry of Health, saying, “one of the Response Ambulances was completely bastardized due to lack of maintenance by the person in charge to the extent that the brain box had to be changed”.
The Commissioner further said that the Ambulances have been recoated and branded appropriately and are ready to be used at the 25 local government ares in the State, stressing that the old radio unit will not be used but rather a control center through the instrumentality of toll free lines of GSM units and carriers that will receive instructions from the citizenry and then relay the information to the nearest ambulance where needed.
Ononye reiterated that the Trado-medical board is functional, and is evidently doing its best to bring in road side hawkers under its umbrella to aid the control of their activities and in extension redeem Deltans from strange fraudulent trado-drug dealers.
He informed that efforts to cushion up health care delivery at the riverine areas is at top gear and at peak of delivery, will be in a more functional way than ever experienced in that area, stressing that local government Chairmen in these areas should be proactive in the area of primary health care.
