The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has imposed a $220 million fine on Meta platforms over the violation of data privacy laws.
According to the statement obtained by PUNCH, FCCPC on Friday, noted that Meta’s data-sharing practices on its Facebook and WhatsApp platforms breached local consumer and data protection regulations.
The commission found that Meta had denied Nigerian users control over their data, shared data without consent and abused its market dominance.
