The Interim President of Gabon, General Brice Nguema has released his cousin, former President Ali Bongo from house arrest.
Recall that Bongo has been on house arrest since the Gabonese Military officers announced the end of his regime on August 30, 2023.
The release of the former president was disclosed by Africa Fact Zone on X formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday, September 7, noting that he could travel abroad for medical attention if he wishes.
They wrote, “Gabon’s interim President, General Brice Nguema releases his cousin, former President Ali Bongo from house arrest. He can travel abroad for medical treatment if he wishes.
“Opposition leader, Albert Ossa says the opposition should be at the heart of the conversation instead.”
