The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele has appeared at Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos Today, 25th July.
Recall that the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended Emefiele on 9th June, 2023, noting that his suspension was due to an ongoing investigation of his office, thereafter arrested on a later date by the Department of State Services for further investigations.
Emefiele‘s court appearance highlights;
1. Emefiele arrived at the Federal High Court holding a King James Version, KJV, of the holy bible.
2. He appeared sick, he assisted into the court room by someone.
3. Emefiele was arraigned on a two-count charge of illegal possession of firearm levelled against him by the Department of State Service, DSS.
4. The court granted Emefiele bail of N20 million and a surety in like sum, after he pleaded not guilty to the crime leveled against him.
5. While Emefiele’s counsel, Joseph Daudu, was still trying to perfect the bail terms, the Department of State Services, DSS, and official of Nigeria Correctional Service, NCS, were fighting over the custody of Emefiele.
