Access Holdings Plc has appointed Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Herbert Wigwe, who passed away.
Recall that Summit Nigeria reported that Wigwe, who was the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, died in a helicopter crash in the US alongside his wife, son, and a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo.
Following this, Access Holdings in a statement issued by its secretary, Sunday Ekwochi, stated that the banking sector has announced Agbede as the company’s new chief.
The statement read in part, “Further to its announcement dated February 11, 2024, the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc (‘the Company’) has today announced the appointment of Ms Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of the Company following the unfortunate demise of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Herbert Wigwe, on February 9, 2024.
“The appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the statement added.
