A 57-year-old woman’s left leg has been amputated by rescuers, after she tripped over her suitcase in a moving walkway in Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport, Thailand on Thursday.
According to the Airport Director,Karant Thanakuljeerapat, the incident took place at around 8:27 a.m. local time on Thursday.
He added that the management were “deeply saddened” by the incident and would compensate the woman for the partial loss of her left leg, as well as bear her medical expenses.
The name of the woman is yet to be disclosed by authorities.
Meanwhile, her son Kit Kittirattana on Facebook, said that the family was still in “shock” and they are worried of her mental health.
He wrote, “My mother’s morale is quite concerning.
“We got to speak to her a bit before and after the operation… Even though she showed her strength through facial expression and tone of voice, we knew that deep down she was broken because she suddenly lost a leg.
“Our family knows very well that we can neither make her leg work like before nor can we bring back the same life she had lived,” he added.
