The Enogie of Ugboko in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, His Royal Highness, Samson Ogiemade 1, has called on governments at all levels to prioritize the development of the rural communities in Edo South communities in particular and Edo state in general.
He made the call while addressing news men during this year’s celebration of the annual Igue festival at Ugboko, weekend.
While deploring the lack of development in Ugboko and other rural communities in Edo South Senatorial District, Enogie said: “I appeal to the federal government and Edo State government to come to our aid to complete the electricity project in this community and also complete the construction of this tarred road to Abudu, which is just remaining about one kilometre”.
While noting that lack of rural Infrastructural facilities is fueling the ugly trend of rural urban drift, HRH Ogiemade appealed to all sons and daughters of Ugboko community to come together, unite attract investments to the area so as to stem rural urban migration.
Ogiemade who also condemned the enslavement of young Nigerians in Libya as as a result of their search for greener pastures, noted that the opportunities available in the agricultural sector in Edo state far surpasses what is available abroad.
He appealed to the youths to go into agriculture as a means of employment.
Also speaking, a former chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Hon. Arase who is also a member of the community also appealed to governments at various levels to complete all abandoned Infrastructural projects in the community which include roads, electricity projects and the renovation of the only secondary school in Ugboko which is now in a sorry state.
High point of the ceremony was prayers for the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare N’Ogidigan II, Governor Obaseki, the people and government of Nigeria and for peace in the country.
