Nnamdi Kanu’s counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, has said that what Biafra seek is ‘self-determination’ not treason or terrorism.
Recall that Kanu was arrested on October 14th, 2015 on 11-count charges bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, managing an unlawful society, publication of defamatory matter, among others.
His arrest propagated the enforcement of sit at home in the South East.
Calling on President Tinubu’s administration, Kanu’s lawyer shared a Twitter post on Tuesday, urging the President to act differently as Buhari never understood that all they demanded for was self-determination.
He tweeted, “Mr President (@officialABAT), the demand for BIAFRA is called ‘self-determination’. It’s not treason or terrorism. But BUHARI didn’t understand this; that’s why he hounded IPOB and renditioned MNK. As a smart man, you’re expected to understand & act differently. Again, #FreeMNK.”
In an earlier tweet, the lawyer cautioned those linking the violent enforcement of sit-at-home in the South-East to Kanu and his group, IPOB, adding that legal action will be taken against any group or individual that links sit-at-home to his clients.
Also, Nollywood Actress Rita Edochie, on Monday made a call on her Instagram page, stating that immediately Kanu is released, the unrest in the south east will become history.
She wrote: “Release Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu today and see the unrest in the South East become history.
“Stop playing with people’s lives, especially all you elites that your children are overseas and you are using other people’s children to create unrest.
“If you are one of them your generation and generation to come will never know peace.” She added.
