The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Transmission Company of Nigeria to speed up power restoration in the North.
The outage, which affected 17 of the 19 Northern States began last two weeks. Worst affected States include; Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe and Katsina.
Others are Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa, Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Niger, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi and Benue.
According to TCN, the total blackout was triggered by the tripping off of the 330kV DC Ugwaji-Apir double circuit transmission line between Benue and Enugu, as well as the one between Shiroro and Kaduna.
In response to the outcries of residents of the affected States, the President in a statement issued on Monday, directed the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, to speed up the pace of work to restore electricity to all the affected states.
