The First Lady of Delta State and founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, on Monday flagged off the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination in the state.
Deaconess Oborevwori launched the distribution of the vaccine during the 2024 Children’s Day celebration held at Cenotaph, High Court Road, Asaba, stating that the HPV vaccine is for girls between the ages of 9-14 years.
She emphasized that the vaccine is safe and effective for the protection of young girls from cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. Adding that it will be available for free at various medical facilities in the state.
The governor’s wife further encouraged parents and caregivers to allow their children to access the vaccine, as it is a nationwide exercise and Delta State cannot afford to be left behind.
While congratulating the children on yet another Children’s Day celebration, Deaconess Oborevwori appreciated the children for coming out in their numbers, advised them to take their studies seriously, and urged them to embrace God.
The event featured a march past, a presentation by the children’s parliament, and the cutting of the celebration cake.
