Resident doctors at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH) has called off their one-week warning strike.
This was announced by the President of the Association, Dr. Harrison Udjah, via a post on Facebook, stating that the Governor of the State, Sheriff Oborevwori granted them audience.
Recall that SUMMIT NIGERIA had on Saturday, April 27, reported that DELSUTH initiated a one-week strike due to escalating mortality rates resulting from inadequate facilities, substandard infrastructures, and salary issues.
The Association through it President further called on the state government to come to their aid.
Udjah said, “We urge all concerned parties to impress upon the state government the importance of adequately funding the highest referral centre in Delta State,” Dr Udjah stated.
Following this, Udjah via a post shared on Facebook on Monday noted that the strike has been called off, he wrote, “Thanks to our Amiable Executive Governor, RT Hon. Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for granting us audience to seem him and for attending to the fundamental issues that borders on optimal patient care and training of Resident Doctors.
“ARD DELSUTH Congress has graciously called of the strike following the sensitivity of His Excellency to the plight of Deltans and the issues presented before him.”
