Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has called on religious leaders, opinion moulders and stakeholders to throw their weights behind the re-election of the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for the accelerated development of the state.
Chief Ukah made the call recently when he played host to the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), Oshimili South chapter in Asaba.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Functioning Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Mr. Paul Osahor, said that the success recorded in all sectors by Governor Okowa was due to the fervent prayers of Christians and other religious leaders and challenged them to do more to enable the Governor emerge victorious in the forthcoming election.
He outlined landmarked projects that endeared the present administration to Deltans to include the drainages in Asaba, Warri and other flood prone areas; massive road construction; linking of riverine communities with roads; the Asaba International Airport; the Stephen Keshi Stadium; renovation, equipping and upgrade of schools, hospitals; skills acquisition centers and empowerment of economically weak youths and women.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Rev. Florence Nwosu, said that the visit was to commend the Governor for his people oriented projects and programmes in the last three and half years and assured him of their prayers in his re-election bid.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Holy Bible to the Commissioner by the leader of the team, Rev Nwosu, and prayers for the peace in the state and the nation in general.
