The Delta State House of Assembly, has approved the 20 Special Advisers requested by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to assist in moving the administration of the state forward.
The Governor’s request was approved following a motion moved by the state house of Assembly Majority Leader, Emeka Nwaobi, read at plenary by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor.
The governor in his message, stated that his request for SAs is in accordance with Section 196 (1-3) of the nations Constitution.
Also, the house of Assembly, on Tuesday, screened and confirmed the nominees for appointment to the Delta State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy as forwarded to it last week by Governor Oborevwori.
The screening and confirmation motion was moved by the Majority Leader, Emeka Nwaobi and seconded by the lawmaker representing Aniocha South Constituency, Isaac Anwuzia.
The nominees include; Justice Celestina Ogisi (retd.) as Chairman, Prof. Louis Ojogwu, Mr Alexander Neyin, Dr Iris Ibi, Mr Augustine Eseagwu, Mr Festus Onyaeju, and Mrs Uju Monye.
The Speaker appreciated lawmakers for the successful screening and urged the nominees to put in their best to ensure speedy delivery of justice in the state.
Oborevwori had in the message stated that the appointment followed the need for reconstitution of the Advisory Council as a result of the expiration of the tenure of its members.
