The Edo state Police Command Monday, decorated 167 officers from the command promoted by the Police Service Commission.
Speaking at a ceremony to decorate the promoted officers, the Commissioner of Police, Edo state command, CP Danmallam Mohammed pointed out that their promotion is in line with the agenda of the acting Inspector General of Police towards boosting the image of police personnel for effective service delivery.
While congratulating the officers, CP Danmallam who was represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP of Oba Market Area Command, ACP Danladi Isah, said the promotion was based on merit and dedication to duty and urged them to reciprocate the gesture done them by the IGP by remitting themselves towards fighting crimes and criminality in the state.
He urged the promoted officers to use their new ranks to promote the image of the police and shun vices like ill treatment of members of the public and extortion that has battered the image of the force in the past.
Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, SP Shaba John, thanked the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of the promotion and promised to be deligent in the discharge of their duties to the best of their ability, vowing that they would not drag the name of the force in the mud.
Those promoted include DCP Suleiman Ibrahim Ukhurebor, DCP Emmanuel Adegbola Aina, ACP Danjuma Magudu and ACP Okpako Omodhowo.
Also promoted are ACP Adamu Ogwu Friday, SP Shaba John, SP Murtala Muhammed among others.
Re officers in the rank of ACP were elevated to DCP, three CSP promoted to ACP, ten DSP moved to the rank of SP, twenty- four from ASP1 to DSP while one hundred and twenty eight were promoted to the rank of ASPII.
