The Economic and Financial Crimes Crime Commission (EFCC) has debunked reports stipulating that its X account (formerly Twitter) had been hacked.
Checks on the account on Thursday morning showed that the account was not available on X.
According to reports, some internet fraudsters had threatened to wage cyber warfare against the commission over alleged disregard for constitutional norms in cracking down on dubious activities among Nigerians online.
Debunking the hack claims, EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale in an interview with PUNCH ONLINE on Thursday, stated that the glitch was as a result of an update done on the agency’s account.
Oyewale said, “We are updating our records on the account. It was not hacked. It will soon start running.”
