After releasing the 2017 WomanRising 100 Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs in Ghana (www.womanrising.org/100mowe), The African Network of Entrepreneurs (TANOE) through its flagship network, WomanRising has announced Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, CEO of L’AINE Services and Mrs. Abena Brigidi, CEO of Nimed Capital as the 2017 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year and 2017 Emerging Woman Entrepreneur of the Year respectively.
Ekow Mensah, CEO of TANOE, in a conversation with Prince Akpah mentioned that this year’s list of the WomanRising 100 Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs was in two (2) categories made up of Experienced Women Entrepreneurs with businesses older than 10 years and Emerging Women Entrepreneurs with businesses less than 10 years in operation. For these two categories, he stated that Dr. Mrs Ellen Hagan was selected as the overall Women Entrepreneur of the Year for her tremendous and inspiring achievements in business and Mrs Abena B. Brigidi was selected as the Emerging Woman Entrepreneur of the Year for the impressive exploits in business. He expressed his excitement at the mentorship opportunities this presents to contestants and winners of the just ended Face of GirlEmpowered being Ghana’s 1st Business Pageant.
About the awardees:
Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, is the Founder and Chief Executive of L’AINE Services Limited, Ghana’s leading Human Resource Consulting Firm. It is the first Ghanaian company to produce a world-class HR magazine called the HR Focus, and the first Ghanaian company to organize an annual HR conference; dubbed the HR Focus Conference and Awards which comprises of an HR Forum, Career Development Sessions and an Awards scheme to reward and recognize HR best practice. Her previous awards include: 2010 Strategic Leadership Award at the Global HR Excellence Awards, 2011 CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year, 2013 VLISCO Be Your Dream Award, 2013 Outstanding Female Entrepreneur at the Ghana Women Awards and the 2013 Best Entrepreneur in Corporate Business Services at the Ghana Entrepreneur Awards and lately the Ultimate Woman of the Year Award at the 2017 EMY Africa Awards. She is a Co-founder of Legacy Girl’s College, currently the only all-girls private school in Ghana and serves on several boards in Ghana.
Abena B. Brigidi (Mrs.) also an astute entrepreneur is the Founding Partner and the CEO of Nimed Capital Limited; a leading investment banking firm in Accra. Her firm is licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as the National Pensions Regulatory Authority as investment advisors and pension fund managers. Nimed Capital has expertise in the areas of corporate finance, funds and investment management as well as investment research and provision of market data. She is a Certified Financial Analyst and a thoroughly bred banker with over a decade of experience in the industry and has had a stint with as a Graduate Trainee at the investment banking division of Halifax PLC; a bank operating in the United Kingdom as a trading division Bank of Scotland.
