The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Vice Presidential candidate for the 2019 general election, Mr Peter Obi has challenged the Federal Government to adopt the module of empowerment programmes floated by the Delta State Government.
Obi who threw this challenge while speaking on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Delta State Job Creation Exhibition in Asaba, charged the Federal Government to come down to Delta State to learn and understand the concept of employment. “FG should come and learn from Delta State how to do empowerment”.
The immediate-past governor of Anambra State, who eulogized the Delta State Government for the programme, noted that, through the office of Job Creation, it has initiated a positive rippling effect, by training and transforming it’s beneficiaries to be useful assets of the nation and not just empowering individuals as practiced by the Federal Government under the guise of Tradermoni, stressing that, it can not by any means be compared to what is practiced here in Delta State.
Peter Obi who is a renowned economist, berated the idea of the FG’s Tradermoni where her beneficiaries have no testimonies and are relatively unknown, saying it is a pointer to the fact that, “Tradermoni is a waste of resources. The Delta State Job Creation beneficiaries are evident in the GDI of the Nation just as they are evident here at this exhibition.”
He commended the state governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his giant strides so far and urged Deltans to support the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels to further push the nation to greater heights and for a better Nigeria.
The Delta State Job Creation Exhibition put together by the Job Creation Office, is a platform for beneficiaries of the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP), Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP) and Graduates Employment Enhancement Programme (GEEP) to showcase their products and works.
