The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Oyo State has announced a fire outbreak at its office in South East Local Government Area, Ibadan.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the State, Dr Adeniran Rahmon Tella, noting that the outbreak occurred on Friday 26th January 2024 at around 10:30 a.m.
Tella stated that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained at the time of filling the report but was assumed to be triggered by a power surge.
The REC further said that no life was lost but some logistic materials were burnt.
He also assured that the incident does not affect the upcoming Saki/West State Constituency re-run election coming up on Saturday the 3rd of February 2024.
