A member of the House of Representatives, Abdulkadir Danbuga, has died at age 63.
Danbuga death was announced by the deputy speaker of the house of representative, Ben Kalu during prenary on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
According to report, Danbuga died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja after a brief illness yet to be disclosed. He has been buried according to Islamic rites.
Danbuga was elected on under the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, represented Isa/Sabon Birnin federal constituency of Sokoto state.
Reacting to his demise, a lawmaker representing Kware/Wamakko federal constituency of Sokoto, Ahmad Kalambaina, said the death of Danbuga was a “great loss”.
“It is a great loss, not only to his constituency but to Nigeria as a whole. He died at a time when his family, constituency and Nigeria needed him the most,” Kalambaina said.
Kalu add that it is tradition for the house to adjourn plenary when a serving member dies.
“It is the spirit and tradition of the house that we don’t sit for plenary on the day one of us goes to be with the Lord,” he said.
However the house adjourned plenary to Thursday, October 13, 2023.
