A Nigerian Investigative journalist, David Hundeyin has revealed that the website touted by the Federal Government of Nigeria as the official UAE visa application portal is, in fact, a fake.
The website, [(link unavailable)]((link unavailable)), is not affiliated with the UAE government, despite claims that it is a requirement for Nigerians to obtain a visa.
According to Hundeyin’s investigation the website is operated by a Canadian entity, generating revenue for governments. This exposé has sparked outrage among Nigerians, who feel deceived by their government’s announcement.
Meanwhile, UAE government has confirmed that they are unaware of the fake website and its requirements, including the exorbitant fees of ₦640k and a minimum account balance of $10,000.
In contrast, the official UAE government website ([(link unavailable)]((link unavailable))) outlines a straightforward application process through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs office (GDRFAD), with fees ranging from ₦60-90k, depending on the stay.
This is not the first time the Nigerian Government has been caught in a embarrassing situation regarding the Dubai visa situation.
Hundeyin’s courageous investigation has earned him widespread praise and vindication.
