Journalists and other public affairs analysts have eulogised a Benin based front line journalist and publisher of Esan Magazine, Peter Odia Iwelomen on his 60th birthday celebration.
The commendations came at a special birthday Thanksgiving Mass held Sunday, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City to mark the event.
The officiating priest, Very Rev. Fr. Edwin Omorogbe in his homily urged Christians to apply wisdom in all their undertaking and be wary of miracle centres that now abound in all the nooks and crannies of our cities.
The clergy man who took his Bible text from the book of Proverbs, chapter 6, verses 1 to 6, said, “in the Scriptures, wisdom is a gift which enables people to live well.It is not just a simple intellectual understanding, but a deep compression of aspect of situation that allows the person to make choices that enable life to flourish. Many a time our choices are narrow and only seem good in the moment. Wisdom helps us to make choice that enhances our physical and spiritual well being.”
While enjoining members of the congregation to work and pray in all situations, Fr. Omorogbe who is also the Parish Priest of St. Paul Catholic Church, Benin City, assured that miracles come from God and it happens when it pleases Him.
High point of the Thanksgiving Mass was the presentation of Thanksgiving offering by Peter Iwelomen accompanied by his wife, children, family members, friends and professional colleagues.
Present at the Thanksgiving Mass were the president of the Freedom Group, Deacon Vincent Agenmomen, Honour Friday Itulah, Edo state Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Honorable Emmanuel Uso, Dr. and Mrs Gabriel Ihenyen, Dr. Eimuan Okojie, Dr. Mike Ehizokhae, members of Edo state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, members of Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN, family members and friends.
