The Onojie of Igueben, His Royal Highness Ehizogie Eluojierior, has commended the chairman of Igueben Local Government Council, Engr. Josie Ogedegbe for his achievements since assumption of office a year ago.
The royal father who said he’s a witness to the superlative performance of the council boss in the last one year pointed out that Igueben Local Government Council has not witnessed the development strides it is witnessing under the leadership of Engr. Ogedegbe except during the administration of Hon. Omi Imoisili.
Zaiki Eluojierior gave the commendation while fielding questions from news men on the achievements of the council chairman, Engr. Josie Ogedegbe since assumption of office a year ago.
Hon. Josie Ogedegbe was sworn-in as chairman of Igueben Local Government Council on the 5th of March, 2018 after winning the local government election held on 3rd of March, 2018 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Enumerating some of the projects executed by Engr. Ogedegbe within the space of one year, Zaiki Eluojierior said, “Since he came in, I have seen him undertake a lot of grading of roads across the Local Government Area. He’s done a lot of renovation of schools and you find him coordinating all the various clans in the Local Government Area.”
The royal father pointed out that the Council boss, apart from embarking on new projects which are alleviating poverty in the area, has also completed all the abandoned projects just as he has revived the infrastructural facilities that were not being utilised.
“The civic centre that has remained dormant for many years, the cash cow of the Local Government Council, was commissioned by him recently and it’s functional. Quiet a number of projects which I know were outstanding, that were just wasting away, he came in and revived them one after the other.”
While commending the Council boss for the prevailing peace in the area, Zaiki Eluojierior disclosed that since assumption of office, Engr. Ogedegbe as Chairman of Igueben Local Government Council, there has been tremendous reduction in crime and criminality in the area. The royal father attributed this to the revival of the regular meetings of the Peace and Security Committee of the Local Government Area by the chairman, formation of vigilante group and logistics support to the police by the Council chairman.
“For a long time, we the members of the Peace and Security Committee were not having our regular meetings, but since he assumed office, we’ve been having our regular meetings.
“There was a period we really had these herdsmen invading the whole area, including our Local Government. The prompt action he took and the security he put in place brought the tension down.
“He has arranged vigilante group for the Local Government and uptill tomorrow they’re still deployed in all critical areas in the locality. For some months now we’ve not heard of such crimes and criminalities in the place.”
Commending the chairman for prompt payment of salaries and allowances to Council staff, Zaiki Eluojierior who said his views represent that of all the traditional rulers in the Local Government Area, urged Engr. Ogedegbe to keep up his pace of development in Igueben Local Government Area and remain focused in providing the dividends of democracy to the people.
