The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday stated that his administration is winning the war against terror and banditry in the country.
Tinubu stated this in his October 1 Independence Day address to the nation, assuring Nigerians that his administration is making significant strides towards ensuring security and stability across the country.
He said, “I want to show you that our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry,” Tinubu declared.
“Our target is to eliminate all threats of Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and all forms of violent extremism. Within a year, our government has eliminated many Boko Haram and bandit commanders.”
He went on to provide details of the government’s achievements in combating these criminal elements.
“As of the latest count, over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated by our troops in the North East, North West, and other parts of the country.”
“We have restored peace. Hundreds of communities in the North and thousands of our people are now able to return home,” Tinubu said.
The President also acknowledged that the work is not yet done, he called it “unfinished business.”
“Our security agencies are committed to ending this as quickly as possible. As soon as we can restore peace to many communities in the troubled parts of the North, our families can return to their homes. We expect to see a leap in improved production and a downward spiral in food costs. I promise you we shall not falter on this.”
