The president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chief Chris Isiguzo has congratulated Senior Elder Uwumwonse Ogbeide on his appointment as a Director of the Independent Television and Radio International.
The president who described Ogbeide’s promotion to a Director of ITV said the appointment is a pride to the entire membership of the NUJ in Nigeria.
The NUJ president stated this during a courtesy visit to the management of ITV to congratulate Ogbeide on his elevation to a Director of ITV.
According to the NUJ president who was represented on the occasion by Sir Roland Osakue, the NUJ chairman, Edo State Council, “we are here to congratulate our colleague, our leader of NUJ who has just been elevated to the position of a Director in ITV, Elder Uwumwonse Ogbeide. This is a well deserved position that you have earned. It is a pride not only to you and your family, but to the entire members of NUJ nation wide”.
While stating that Elder Uwumwonse Ogbeide epitomises humility, dedication and right attitude to duty, the Edo State chairman of NUJ said these are the attributes that earned him the position of Director in ITV.
“Ogbeide is a man that is dedicated to his duty, his humility surpasses that of every other person when it comes to work and he has the the right attitude to work. We see him as a man who has earned this position.
“Ogbeide is a man who has passed through the Rubicon, he started from the scratch and now he’s at the peak of his profession”, Osakue said.
Osakue thanked the chairman of ITV, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin for establishing Independent Television and Radio wondering what would have been the fate of the numerous journalists on the employment of the media outfit if the station was not established. The chairman also thanked the management of ITV/Radio for their support to the Edo State Council of NUJ.
In his response, ITV Director, Elder Uwumwonse Ogbeide described his elevation as a call to duty and pledged to continue to do his best, double his efforts and take the television station to new heights and thanked the chairman of ITV Chief Gabriel Igbinedion for establishing the platform for the workers to exhibit their talents.
“We want to sincerely thank you for coming here today to congratulate us. This celebration is for all of us, we’re all doing it together. I thank God that we have been so elevated and it’s a call for more duty and dedication. We promise and pledge that we’ll continue to do our best. Whatever we are doing today and whatever we have attained today as a station, by God’s grace, we’ll double it.
“I have to thank our chairman, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin who established this place for all of us to exhibit our professional talents. If he has not established this, I don’t know where all of us would have been. All glory goes to him and the almighty God.”
Ogbeide thanked the NUJ president, Chief Chris Isiguzo and the chairman of Edo State Council of NUJ for identifying with him on his elevation and assured them he would discharge his duties professionally and not betray the confidence reposed in him by the board of directors of ITV.
“We want to thank the NUJ chairman, also thank the NUJ president through the chairman for this warm felicitation to us and assure him that as a comrade, we’ll continue to do our best and uphold the union’s constitutional and professional demands”.
Until his elevation to the position of a Director, Elder Uwumwonse Ogbeide was the General Manager of Independent Television and Radio. With his elevation to a Director of the television outfit, he will now be overseeing the operations of the station worldwide.
