All is now set for the launch of a book title ‘The Benin Monarchy, an Anthology of Benin history’ by His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II on October 20, 2018.
The launch of the book which is a project of Oba Ewuare II foundation in collaboration with the Benin traditional council was made known to journalists during a press conference at the Oba palace Monday, in Benin city.
Chairman of the Global Book Presentation Committee, Ambassador Martin Uhomoibhi described the book as one of the most iconic in recent time on the revered Monarchy and the people of the kingdom.
While highlighting the importance of the book, Uhomoibhi said the book authored by over 18 highly respected authorities/historians within and outside Nigeria on Benin history has a weight of 6.8 kilogrammes.
Uhomoibhi disclosed that the book launch, will be followed by the launching of Oba Ewuare II satellite town at Ugoneki to be known as Ugoneki Satellite Town on the Benin-Agbor express way.
In his remarks, the Enogie of His Highness, Prof. Gregory Akenzu disclosed that some organisations, including the British Museum have shown interest in the book pointing out that plans are underway to launch the book in the nation’s major capital and outside the shores of Nigeria.
Also speaking, the State commissioner for Art, Culture, Tourism & Diaspora, Hon. Osazee Osewmengie Ero said, he is very happy to have witnessed such a historic positive move in the State more importantly as it relates to the advancement of the culture.
