The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, Ogidigan has admonished parents to live exemplary lives for their children to emulate, stressing that when parents live well as responsible citizens their offspiring will have no option but to copy their good example.
The Benin monarch gave this admonition, Saturday, January 4, while hosting children to a new year party in his palace in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Oba Ewuare pointed out that when parents do not live a life worthy of emulation, their children become wayward and people in the larger society would be casting aspersions on their parents for poor upbringing.
He reminded the parents and guardians that as good behaviour of their children bring them praises, so it attracts commendations to the entire Benin race.
He charged the children to emulate the good behaviour of their parents and listen to their teachings so as to grow into responsible adults.
The revered monarch later took to the dance floor with the children from various backgrounds.
Ineh Theatre Troupe also entertained the children as they made renditions of royal ballards to the admiration of all.
High point of the occasion was the release of pigeons by Oba Ewuare II as a sign of peace in the new year.
The children were treated to lavish entertainment just as they were showered with various gift items by the royal father.
