… As Delta State Police Command gets New Observation Post, Transit Camp and Eagle-Net Special Squad Office

Delta state Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has said that Police business is not a one sided affair, emphasizing that blessed individuals and organisations should aid Police work.
Governor Okowa made this advocacy during the occasion of the commissioning of the newly built Observation Post, Transit Camp and Eagle-Net Special Squad Office building at the State Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police in Asaba, noting that as humans have their challenges vis-a-vis the Police Force, but with a collaborative effort, the work of the Police will be sustained and on track.
In his brief speech, Okowa said, “we will support you in the way we can because we are aware that when you work in a comfortable atmosphere, you are most likely to be more productive, hence before the end of the year we will be supplying the Police Force with few more vehicles and also rehabilitate all Police Stations in the state by 2019”.
He urged the Police Commissioner and other stakeholders who contributed to the various legacy works, not to relent in their good work.
In an opening remark by the Commissioner of Police in-charge of the State Command, CP Muhammad Mustafa MNI said that the journey of the befitting project; Observation Post/Transit Camp was started by his predecessors who, on their assumptions of duty then as the CP, observed with dismay that officers deployed to the command on special duties had no place to lay their heads or relax their bodies. “Some of them had to improvise make shift tents at the entrance of the Command Headquarters to shield themselves from the elements,” he stated.
CP Mustafa added that, “our appreciation and gratitude go to His excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the executive governor of Delta state for his unalloyed support and ever-willing readiness to assist the command at all times. Even after the completion of the project, he also gave DESOPADEC his blessings and made possible the immediate release of funds for equipping the observation post with CCTV cameras and air-conditioners. Thanks to the governor also, the transit camp equally is now furnished with beds and other modern facilities”.
Continuing, the Commissioner said, “the establishment and fortification of the Eagle-Net Special Squad was also made possible by his Excellency the Governor. Needless to state that the establishment of the Eagle-Net Special Squad to compliment the efforts of other existing operational outfits such as the Quick Response Squad (QRS), the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squads (SAKCCS), the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), the Dragon and Safer Highways outfits e.t.c, has aided greatly in the fight against serious crimes and criminality in the state. In addition to the 10 brand new Hilux vans which the administration earlier gave to Eagle net squad at its inception, 20 Sienna buses with specially fabricated cell facilities for detention of suspects, have been provided by the state through the assistance of the delta state security Trust fund.”
Mustafa further commended DSP Dimka Usman, the commander of the Eagle-Net Special Squad for his sterling qualities; commitment to duty, strength of character, patriotism, philanthropy, concern for the poor and the less privileged-have been well documented and recognized within and outside the Force and even beyond the shores of the state, stressing that “like every other parent whose offspring is doing well, I feel highly proud and elated and all I can say is thank you DSP Dimka for bringing honour to yourself, the Eagle-Net Special Squad, the officers and men of the command and the entire Nigeria Police Force”.
