The Otaru of Auchi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Haliru Momoh, Ikelebe III, has attributed the problems confronting the nation to injustice and challenged leaders at all level to ensure justice to both the rich and the poor.
The Otaru also urged traditional rulers to see themselves as representatives of the Almighty God in their kingdom warning that such position confined royal fathers to always speak the truth and ensure justice to all.
The Royal father stated this on Monday, January 8, 2017 at the 21st Auchi Day annual celebration of Allah Most High, which held at Auchi.
The occasion was attended by Governor Godwin Obaseki, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hajia Mariam Abubakar, former Chief Judge of Edo state, Hajia Constance Momoh, Gani Audu and Kingsley Ugabi, members representing Etsako West constituency 1 and Etsako East constituency respectively in the House of Assembly.
Otaru of Auchi while stressing the need for leaders to lead according to the word of God, the Otaru of Auchi noted that peace will always elude any society where injustice is allowed to reign.
According to him, ” In Nigeria today, I believe justice is not applied in anything we do and that is why we are having problems. When there is injustice you will observe restlessness and that is a big problem. The nation must give justice to both the rich and the poor.
“And for us traditional rulers, God gave us this power to lead our people. And what any King must do is to ensure that justice prevails in his kingdom, it must have no boundaries” he stated.
While expressing his gratitude to the guests who attended the colourful ceremony, the Otaru thanked the immediate past governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for helping in the growth of the annual event while he was governor.
Governor Obaseki in his address read by his representative, Hajia Abubakar, reiterated the desire of his administration to bring development to Auchi and other communities in the state and solicited the assistance of traditional rulers in ensuring conducive environment for investors.
“We want to drive our economy through agriculture and that is why we are making lands available to farmers and giving out empowerments for people to set up their farms.
“I thank the Otaru of Auchi for ensuring that peace reigns in Auchi Kingdom and we will continue to support Auchi Kingdom and other communities in the state in terms of development and empowerment of our women and youths”.
The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Omamofe Boyo, (The Aidegbai of Auchi Sacred Kingdom) in his remarks said: “We pray that all the blessings that Allah has bestowed on Auchi community, Edo state and Nigeria will continue to impact us positively. All praise belong to him. The Team of the Auchi Day is “Allah is sufficient”. We try to satisfy our desire but forgetting that only his will can prevail aways. Allah’s teaching requires us to be our brothers’ keeper. We must continue to be some model for our communities.
“I commend His Royal Highness, the Otaru of Auchi and the good people of the kingdom. A day that has come of age for the Auchi people to do as they will. A day for the remembrance of our creator and the recognition of our exemplary duty. The interest of this celebration is the introduction of Quoranic recitation.
” The first encounter with Angel Gabriel, was one in which the Holy Prophet was asked to recite the quoran. From that moment onward, restitution becomes the mode of delivery of the message. And it has become an integral part of Islam. It is an act of worship and it is a means of instruction. As such, the quoranuc recitation is a way of teaching the youth and a way also of instilling moral knowledge in them for their future. A community of God conscious people must always be a successful and florishing community inshallah as a model for others to follow. We must continue to invest in the spiritual growth of our people of the state and Nigeria. I will work with my friends to ensure we establishe a quoranic institution that will cater for all”, he said.
Meanwhile a total number of 204 participated in the quoranic competition out of which Fatimah Abubakar and Zekeria Muhammad emerged the overall best.
An Edo North Senatorial aspirant in the 2019 general Elections, Chief Dekeri Sunday Anamero, aka Danco Oil and Gas as part of his support for the occasion announced 50 thousand naira each for twenty indigent students from 20 villages.
