The over 3,148 farmers affected by the 2018 flood disaster in Edo state will benefit from the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) grants.
The supervisor of the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) in Edo, Mr Ifeanyi Omeje made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Benin City, pointing out that verification exercise is ongoing to ascertain the affected farmers.
According to him, the grant which will be drawn from the Emergency Agricultural Intervention Funds will be given to the affected farmers from Esan South-East, Etsako Central, and Etsako East in the form of farm inputs.
“The grants is from Emergency Agricultural Intervention Funds, established by the National Food Security Council headed by Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari.
“The grants is coming in form of farm impute which include, Seedlings, Fertilizers and Agrochemicals for them to enhance good yield in the 2019 farming season”, he said.
He however said that the farmers would be supported based on the size their farm.
Omeje assured that all stakeholders will be present during the presentation of grants to the farmers.
