Edo State Government has ordered the postponement of school resumption due to rising petrol prices and challenges faced by parents and guardians.
This was noted in a statement signed by the Permanent Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe.
According to the statement, all public and private schools resumption has been postponed “until further notice”.
The statement read in part “An official statement from the government has directed that schools remain closed due to the tension from the recent increase in fuel prices and the challenges faced by parents and guardians.
“The government urged parents, guardians and caregivers to monitor the activities of their children and wards closely, given the current situation and the rising tension caused by the fuel price hike.”
This is following the increase of Petrol Prices, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) recently increased the pump price of petrol to ₦855 while other retails marketers sell above ₦900 per litre, with black marketers selling above ₦1000 per litre.
