The Niger Delta Comrades Assembly (NDCA) has called on Nigerian Judicial Commission (NJC) to reduce the polical tension in the country by relocating all Election Appeal Justices and Election Appeal Cases to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The group made the call through its National Speaker, Rt. Hon. Lebari Young, at a press conference in Asaba, Delta state on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
According to the Speaker, the relocation of all Election Appeal Justice and Election Appeal cases to the Federal Capital Territory will ease insecurity tension specifically in Delta State.
Adding that as a group, they do not want politicians who lost to their opponents to hijack the peace that is currently enjoyed in the state.
He said, “What we do not want as a group in the State, is aggrieved persons highjacking the peace and tranquility currently being enjoyed in Delta State as there seems to be growing tension in the camp of those who lost to their opponents at the various tribunals.
“It is on this note that the Niger Delta Comrades Assembly is calling on the Nigerian Judicial Commission (NJC) to relocate all Election Tribunal Appeal Hearings in Delta State to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,” Young stated.
The speaker also noted that the political tension is not only in Delta State but cuts across other states in the country.
He further advised Politicians who have lost to their opponents at the tribunal “to prepare for the next round of elections, rather than inflaming passions.”
